As a physical theatre educator I believe in encouraging artists of all ages to discover their own method of creation through physical awareness while expanding their knowledge of self in the process.
My goal is to strengthen one's artistic skillset and cultivate an appreciation of all theatrical aspects; artist and observer, by concentrating on creative and imaginative thinking. This is achieved by emphasizing theatre as a collaborative and ensemble driven art, through various exercises and movement that focus on acting, directing and playwriting. I use published scripts and devise new stories with students to allow for a wider range of creativity, while keeping them engaged. With older students, it is my goal to encourage critical thinking using published works. I believe it is essential to create an environment that is based on trust and collaboration. Theatre is an opportunity for students to have their voice and express themselves creatively.
Private Lessons: I work with students who are just beginning to discover their love of theatre through adults working to hone their skills. Whether your goal is to work on audition material or further understand specific acting methods, we will create a game plan together to get you to your goal.
Workshops: I offer several workshops on physical theatre development and beginning work of devised theatre. These include, but are not limited to: Viewpoints, Growtowski, Contact Improvisation, Meyerhold's Biomechanics. Workshop time frames available between 60min-180min. Willing to travel. Age range between middle school through college.
